Hello Family,

A social media campaign has begun. As you may have already heard, on Monday September 4th, the televised radio show The Breakfast Club used their platform to discuss blind parenting. On their “Get it Off Your Chest” segment a blind female called in to vent about the difficulty the blind and visually impaired community faces seeking employment. From the stereotypical lack of ability due to blindness/ visual impairment to just not being taking seriously when it comes to employment. Childcare came up, hosts Charlamagne the God and DJ Envy shared their comments, callers called in and did the same. Later another visually impaired caller attempts to educate. Hear and read for yourselves. Below we have links to the Breakfast Club’s twitter feed, podcast and YouTube clip of the show (discussion begins at the 25 minute 45 second mark).

Take some time to read the twitter feed discussion or listen to the show on the podcast or YouTube versions. Then maybe you would like to join the social media campaign to educate The Breakfast Club hosts and their listening community while taking the opportunity to spread the truth about the abilities of the blind and visually impaired community.

After the links you will find pre-typed responses for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. You can cut and paste or re-type them into you social media vehicle of choice.
